Warehouse

Program Overview

The MSS Warehouse, located at 80-50 Pitkin Avenue in Ozone Park, NY, is the operational heart of our Nourish Emergency Food Assistance Program. This facility allows us to store, sort, and prepare thousands of pounds of food each week for distribution to over 30 food pantry sites across New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Delaware. It plays a critical role in helping us meet the rising demand for food assistance with consistency and care.

Impact on Food Distribution & Community Access

Thanks to the warehouse, MSS now supports over 500,000 individuals annually with culturally appropriate groceries. The centralized location improves logistics, reduces delivery delays, and ensures that each of our pantry sites receives the inventory they need. It has significantly increased our efficiency, allowing us to maintain a continuous flow of food from partners to families without compromising quality or freshness.

Commitment to Cultural Sensitivity

We believe food assistance must go beyond volume—it must reflect the values and cultures of those we serve. The MSS Warehouse carefully manages inventory to include halal meat, South Asian staples, Caribbean produce, and other culturally familiar items. Every step of our storage and packing process is done with dignity in mind, affirming our commitment to respectful and inclusive service.

Strategic Collaboration & Volunteer Network

Our warehouse functions through the dedication of a robust volunteer network and partnerships with food banks, local farms, masjids, and community organizations. Volunteers play an active role in sorting, packing, and preparing distributions each week. These collaborative efforts allow us to expand our reach and remain responsive to community needs while fostering a spirit of unity and shared purpose.

Future Outlook

Looking ahead, MSS plans to grow the capacity and impact of the warehouse. We aim to introduce cold storage to safely handle perishable items, implement digital inventory systems to streamline operations, and create training opportunities for youth and community members. The warehouse will continue to evolve as a critical tool in our mission to reduce hunger and promote equity across the region.
